The former farmstead of the Order of the Cross in Dobřichovice is an outstanding element in the urban fabric of the small town – it is a sort of a counterweight to the town centre of the. It is situated on the main street axis (5. Května street). The goal of this conversion was to preserve the feeling of confinement of the courtyard from the surroundings, yet to connect it to the local pedestrian paths between the centre, the park, and the river. The buildings establishing the farmstead’s ´façade´ facing the town were partly renovated and they keep the original footprint – there are a restaurant, a hotel, and a communal hall located here. The internal court became a fully functional municipal courtyard/square. The former barns in the second part of the farmstead were replaced by new tenement houses with services on the ground floor. These new buildings step back a few meters from the perimeter wall – space was arranged here for front gardens of flats; viewed from the street, the perimeter wall at the same time preserves the visual image of the former farmstead.
