The Baroque building from the 18th century was in a derelict condition due to long-term neglect and was in imminent danger of destruction.
The much discussed and complicated rehabilitation of the whole complex introduced a new and appropriate method of quality exploitation into this borderline area of the heritage reservation.

The restoration preserved the historical value of the original building with flats; an addition with guest rooms was erected in the courtyard.
A glazed lobby with a reception and a bar is located on the ground floor along with a prestige gallery exhibiting antique art, shops, and the hotel breakfast room.
